Walking Your Greyhound on a Leash

Walking your newly adopted greyhound rescue on a leash can often times be a fretful endeavor. Some greyhound rescues come leash trained either from the race track or the rescue where they end up once they retire. Many new owners however take for granted the fact that greyhound rescues need to be taught how to walk on a leash.

While walking your greyhound rescue on a leash, make sure that you are the leader of the walk. Do not allow your greyhound to pull you down the street. Greyhounds usually behave well on a leash until they spy something that takes their interest. If you see your greyhounds ears perk up and he stands completely still, watch out. Your greyhound is getting ready to sprint after whatever has caught his attention. You will want to make a loud noise to startle him and get his attention. This will prevent him from taking off suddenly and possible injuring himself.
